Why is a CCJ record removed if paid in 30 days?

Modified on Thu, 2 Apr at 11:00 AM

A County Court Judgment (CCJ) is a court order that confirms a company (or individual) owes a debt and must repay it. It usually follows when a creditor takes you to court over unpaid invoices and either wins the case or the claim is not defended.

A creditor can apply for a CCJ against any debt that is overdue.  Once issued, a CCJ is added to a public register and will normally appear on credit reports for up to six years.

If a CCJ is satisfied within 30 days of its issue then all records of the CCJ must be deleted under UK law. As such, any CCJ satisfied within 30 days will no longer appear on a company report.
