What does TPS/CTPS/GDPR registered mean?

Modified on Thu, 2 Apr at 12:23 PM

Companies on TPS, CTPS or registered under GDPR-related preferences have formally indicated that they do not wish to receive unsolicited direct marketing.

TPS (Telephone Preference Service): A register for individuals and sole traders who opt out of unsolicited sales and marketing calls.

CTPS (Corporate Telephone Preference Service): A similar register for businesses and other organisations that do not want unsolicited marketing calls.

GDPR marketing preferences: Under GDPR, individuals can give or withdraw consent for their personal data to be used for marketing, and can object to certain types of marketing at any time.

If a number or contact is listed on these registers or has opted out under GDPR, organisations must not cold call or send direct marketing to them, except in very limited circumstances permitted by law.
